I know this blog is going to seriously upset some sensitive people. It is not my job to censor myself for your protection. Take responsibility for your own emotions. If you don't like it, click elsewhere. In no way do I advocate the mutilation of animals. Nonetheless, I am fascinated by mutilated animals. That fascination is reflected in these pages. I will make no apologies, nor will I attempt to disguise this fascination as art or activism.
Is the red X necessary?
If there was no red X, would the guy who drives by in the road kill collection truck just leave a dead wombat on the side of the road?
And, yes, I do have the license plate.

marsupials often have babies in their pouches that survive the collision. the X shows that somebody has checked that there are no babies in the pouch.
marsupial babies can survive in the pouch of their dead mother long after she has died. people rescue the babies from roadkill animals. the X shows that somebody has checked the animal for any babies that may be present.
Since making that post, I have received a wonderful gift of a pamphlet with instructions for checking for joeys in roadkill and how to care for them. Makes me want to go for a drive!
During a recent bountiful road trip, it occurred to me that I have been neglecting this most favored hobby of mine. I thought it would be a good idea to explore a fresh, more interactive venue. For the benefit of thoroughness, I will be updating this blog with select archive material, so I apologize in advance for any redundancy you may suffer. I also strongly encourage reader submissions.
